Procedure 4530A
LEAVE OF ABSENCE WITHOUT PAY
The College may approve a leave without pay to full-time College employees. The employee should request a leave in advance and understand that all benefits will be frozen while on leave.
Requesting a Leave
When possible, employees should request an extended leave without pay at least two
(2) months before the leave would begin. Usually, the length of a leave should be
one (1) year or less. The employee should include in the written request the specific
purpose of the leave and should submit it to his or her supervisor.
This procedure is not intended for professional leaves for extended time periods. Employees seeking extended leave for professional development should request leave under Policy and Procedure 4520D.
The request will be forwarded to the President through the appropriate College administrators. Each administrator will attach a recommendation. The President will make the final decision.
Benefits While on Leave
- During leaves of absence without pay, all employee benefits are frozen.
- Employees may continue coverage of their insurance by arranging for payment with the Business Office.
