Enrich Wyoming

Western Wyoming Community College welcomes you to participate in their non-credit course program Enrich Wyoming – Cultivate your passion.    

Enrich Wyoming focuses on three categories: Personal Enrichment, Personal Development, and Senior Citizens These categories and courses were chosen to help fill a gap in community needs. Many of the new classes will work in tandem with the College’s credit programs.

Enrich Wyoming - Western's non-credit program will no longer be accepting Senior Waivers. All participants will be responsible to pay the full course fee.

These courses are tentative for the Summer and Fall 2024 Semester. Details and courses below may change.

Course Description: This course is designed for the beginning and advanced pottery student. Beginning students will have the course designed to meet their needs in throwing and hand-building through demonstrations and skill building lessons, while advanced students will have studio time to pursue their areas of interest. Students of all levels will engage in critical discussion about craft and artistry with the instructor and their peers. The instructor will be available to provide assistance and feedback to students. This course will have limited capacity for firings, and will focused mainly on construction of vessels to be fired later.

Course Description: This introductory yoga class will teach students body alignment, ways to enhance the mind-body connection, and deep breathing while developing strength, flexibility, and balance in a supportive environment. Jessica incorporates mindfulness and yogic philosophy into her classes in a way that supports mind, body, and soul. 

This class is designed for the brand new students and would also be appropriate for seasoned practitioners wanting to reinforce or return to the basics. 

Supplies needed:  please bring your own yoga mat and blocks (optional)

Course Description:
This course will teach the use of hand and power tools with an emphasis on safety; Understanding wood and what types to use for different purposes; Types of joinery; Sanding and finishing. 

On shop days students will need to provide their own hearing and eye protection. Closed toe shoes (boots preferred). Safety glasses. Gloves for handling wood. Dust mask (a covid mask will work). 

 *Students will have a chance to build their own personal project to take home.

Course Description: Join us for an introduction to Qigong workshop this fall! Qigong is an ancient wellness practice that cultivates, circulates and utilizes your energy or life force for overall health benefits. Slow, gentle movement, breathwork, alignment and focus are all incorporated to increase balance, strength and flexibility in both the mind and body. Qigong is a practice for anyone. This class will be done standing or sitting in a chair – no floor work.

Course Description:
In this class, students will learn basic decorating techniques, including how to decorate cupcakes: preparing an icing bag with coupler and a tip, filling a bag with frosting, and decorating cupcakes. Students will also learn how to decorate cakes: torte, fill, and frost a cake, piping borders on a cake, and using different edible mediums to add details to finish off cakes.   

*Please note all supplies and tools are included in the cost. Students will not keep the tools at the end of the course, but will get to bring home an amazing creation!

Course Description:
Would you like some basic first aid skills for your next hike? Learn to wrap an ankle, treat minor wounds, care for blisters, burns, infections and prevent hypothermia. This 2 1/2 hour clinic is hands-on clinic will teach folks about how to be both prepared for the outdoors and treat minor injuries. 

*This course cost includes a small first aid kit for students to keep.

Course Description: As we age it becomes more important to protect and care for our skin. This course will provide the important information needed to care for skin and slow down the appearance of aging. Each student will learn do-it-yourself skills for skincare and applying make-up. This hands-on tutorial will focus on looking younger, looking great for special occasions, and basic daily routine skin care for mature skin women.

Join this session to further understand your own personality type and develop strategies for communicating effectively with others.  This presentation will: 

  1. Review personality styles so that participants will be able to recognize the characteristics of their personality and communication tactics to be successful at work or at home.  
  1. Participants will learn effective communication strategies tailored to each personality style, considering factors such as verbal and nonverbal communication, active listening, and conflict resolution. 
  1. Recognize communication barriers: Participants will identify common communication barriers associated with different personality styles and develop strategies for overcoming them. 
  1. Apply communication tactics to real-world scenarios: Participants will engage in role-playing exercises to apply their understanding of communication tactics to specific workplace situations

Course Description: 
This course explores the intersection of Eastern and Western approaches to wellness through the lens of Samhsa's Eight Dimensions of Wellness and the Yamas and Niyamas. Students will learn about the Eight Dimensions of Wellness and how they relate to physical, emotional, social, occupational, and spiritual health. They will also study the Yamas and Niyamas, which are ethical principles that guide personal behavior and spiritual growth in the Eastern tradition of yoga. Through readings, discussions, and experiential exercises, students will develop an understanding of how these approaches can be integrated to promote holistic wellness.

Non-profit entities are an increasing presence across the nation, state, and Sweetwater County. They can often present a complex web of bureaucratic steps and overwhelming information. They don’t need to there are some basic principles for all non-profits that, if applied consistently, can help and aspiring non-profit get off the ground and succeed.

Course Description: 
Are you dreaming about, or want to plan, a visit to the Serengeti, or are just curious? You will find this session full of ideas from someone who has traveled to East Africa and visited Tanzanian locations including the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Ruaha National Park, and Zanzibar, multiple times.  You will learn about flights to Tanzania, options for guided group or private tours, food, culture and current costs.  In addition to Tanzanian travel, the instructor has hiked to see mountain gorillas in Rwanda and chimpanzees in Uganda and can describe those options.  The course will include lists of resources, personally vetted contacts, and photos of all levels of travel from tent camps to luxurious lodges.
