What is Title IX?
Title IX is a federal law that prohibits discrimination based on sex in educational programs and activities. At Western Wyoming Community college, we are committed to providing an environment that is free from discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct. This commitment extends to all members of our college community, including students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Your Rights under Title IX
Title IX protects you from discrimination on the basis of sex, including:
- Sexual Harassment: Unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature that is severe, pervasive, and objectively offensive.
- Sexual Assault: Any non-consensual sexual act.
- Pregnancy and Parenting: Protection against discrimination due to pregnancy, childbirth, or related conditions.

What Happens After You Report?
After a report is made, Western Wyoming Community College will promptly and equitably investigate the matter. The process involves:
- Initial Assessment: The Title IX Coordinator will review the report to determine the appropriate next steps.
- Supportive Measures: We will provide immediate assistance to protect your well-being and ensure your access to educational programs.
- Investigation: A thorough, fair, and impartial investigation will be conducted.
- Resolution: The college will take appropriate steps to resolve the situation, which may include disciplinary action or other remedies.
Support and Resources
Western offers a range of support services to assist you, including:
- Academic Accommodations: Adjustments to coursework, schedules, or class formats.
- Counseling Services: Confidential support to help you manage the emotional impact of your experience.
- Safety Planning: Assistance in creating a plan to ensure your safety on campus, including no contact orders.
- Other Supportive Measures: Other supportive measures are available depending on individual situations.
We are dedicated to preventing Title IX violations through education and awareness. Western offers:
- Mandatory Training: All employees and students that live on-campus are required to complete Title IX training, which covers the identification and prevention of discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct.
- Awareness Campaigns: Ongoing initiatives to promote a culture of respect and inclusion.
- Specialized Workshops: Training for specific groups, such as athletes, resident assistants, and faculty, to address unique challenges.
