GRANTS FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE

The mission of Western Wyoming Community College can be enhanced by establishing a Professional Development and Excellence Awards Committee. This committee would encourage individual faculty members to develop professionally and to achieve excellence.

GRANTS FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE

The Professional Development and Excellence Award Committee is formed to stimulate creativity and excellence by awarding mini-grants, seed money, and awards in the five (5) areas based upon a specific format criteria.

Composition of the Committee
The committee will be composed of eight (8) members. The Vice President for Student Learning and one (1) representative from each of the following areas:
• Humanities and Fine Arts
• Math Science
• Social Science
• Health Science
• Trades and Industry
• Business
• Professional, Non-Faculty

The committee will meet as needed during the year and once near the end of the Spring semester to decide on awards.

The Five (5) Areas for Grants or Awards
The committee will give grants or awards to individual professional employees in the following five (5) areas:
1. Instruction Development - These are projects that improve teaching and learning in the classroom or laboratory.
2. Research and Original Investigation – These projects are applied to research, investigation, or pilot projects. These may be complete projects or seed projects for larger grants from other sources.
3. Presentations of Papers or Programs – These are awarded to individuals who have been invited to present papers, workshops, lectures, panels, etc., for which no other funds exist.
4. Individual Professional Growth – These are activities that increase individuals knowledge and expertise by attending conferences, seminars, workshops, etc., for which funds for other sources has been denied or does not exist.
5. Other Achievements, including Awards for Excellence.

Completion of Projects
Individuals awarded grants must submit the following documentation when they have completed the proposed project:
1. Instructional development projects:

a. Documentation of final outcome product
b. Written final report

2. Research or original investigation:

a. Actual performance of project
b. Written final report

3. Presentation of Papers:

a. Written final report
b. Copy of printed project

4. Professional growth projects:

a. Written final report

Financing the Grants and the Award
These grants and awards will be funded from three (3) sources:
• Budgeted line development funds of Western Wyoming Community College as determined by the Vice President for Student Learning;
• Faculty donations to the Foundation;
• Matching funds given to the Foundation by the community.
