Practicum

The Practicum classes provide students with the opportunity to explore various career paths by shadowing professionals within the community. Students will participate in practicum experiences each semester throughout the program. These experiences not only expose students to different career options but also help them build valuable professional connections.

Many students transfer to degree programs that require field experience hours. The practicum hours earned during their time at Western contribute toward these requirements, giving our students a competitive edge when transferring. Through these hands-on experiences, students often solidify their career interests and professional goals.

In addition to shadowing professionals, Exercise Science students work collaboratively to plan and execute a variety of exciting community programs and events, allowing them to apply their knowledge and skills in real-world settings.

Some of the community programs include:

  • Community Fitness Assessment/Testing
  • Run with Sandy
  • Firefighter Fitness Testing
  • 9/11 Memorial Event
  • Health Fairs
