Financial Aid and Financial Assistance
The federal philosophy for financial aid administration is that the main responsibility for financing education rests with the student and his/her/their family. Federal aid is available to supplement families’ resources. For information on financial assistance available to students, please see the Financial Aid page.
In order for eligibility for federal aid to be determined, students and/or parents should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at Log In | Federal Student Aid Apply as early as October 1 of each year for the academic year beginning the following fall. Since results from FAFSA are often required for institutional aid, it is recommended that ALL students complete the federal application.
Western’s federal school code is: 003933

Helpful tips:
Don’t lose your financial aid: Before you drop a class, or if you receive a failing grade, make sure you contact the financial aid office to discuss the reprecussions.
Loans aren’t disbursed automatically: Unlike grants, which are disbursed automatically, for federal students loans, you must complete additional steps to receive loans.
Plan your class schedule wisely: Remember, federal aid will only cover courses that count toward your degree.
Higher Education costs vary. Tools such as the Net Price Calculator are available for students to begin planning early for the costs of attending college.
