Exploring the Campus - My Favorite Campus Amenities

Whether you’re walking around campus for your classes, trying to find places to study, or even finding a place to hang out with your friends, there are a lot of options to choose from if you’re wanting a place to just relax. Here are some of the places that I’ve enjoyed, but also spots that students have also enjoyed.

 Hay Library

Hay Library is a great spot for many reasons, and I think that if you haven’t visited the library yet, you should. Hay Library offers many things going all the way from thousands of books that you can pick from to read, but also for assignments for your classes. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, not to worry. If you go to My Western, click on Discover More, right under Academic Support, you can click on Hay Library and look at the books that way, but are able to use multiple databases that are extremely useful when working on projects. Not only does the library offer those services, but there is also several small study rooms and a few big study rooms that you can go into with friends or classmates to get work done in. If that’s not your speed, there are also several couches that you can use to just relax and read while enjoying the silence.

T-Rex Grill and the Atrium

You have probably gotten a drink at the T-Rex Grill at least ones or have at least stopped by it to work on some homework while waiting for your next class or have even stopped by for a little just to chat with a friend for a little. Either way, T-Rex Grill and the Atrium are both fantastic spots to study at. As an improvement from last year, the school has put in multiple tables for students to utilize along with some fancy chairs that spin around almost like a spin-top toy. My favorite part about the Atrium is the fact that it’s this giant window that lets in so much sunlight, unless it’s a super cloudy day, but it’s still nice to be able and look out at the town below as you sip on your coffee that you got from T-Rex Grill.

Student Living Room

The Student Living Room is my absolute favorite spot on campus for multiple reasons. Reason one being that all the couches and chairs that are in there are extremely comfortable and who doesn’t love that? Reason two is the cozy feel due to the unique lighting and faux fireplace. There’s this layered feeling that you’re in a cabin in the middle of winter vibe, and once it does start snowing, it will add to it more. Unlike the atrium, which is more active and louder, this space is calming and geared for studying. And last reason, check out the student artwork displayed here.

If you haven’t found that spot that you enjoy the most, I would recommend that you take some time and look around to find that perfect spot-on campus, even if it’s the smallest and most random place on campus. For all campus amenities, click here.
