Western Wyoming Community College (Western) is excited to invite staff, students, and the public to join us in promoting health and wellness through regular walks on our beautiful campus. Walk Western is a simple yet effective way to stay active, reduce stress, and improve overall well-being. Western provides the community a free, safe, and comfortable indoor walking opportunity for the cold winter months.

Event Details:

The campus is open anytime in the winter, but to help kick off a healthy new year, Western will be providing prizes, along with local donations, to help motivate you in getting started for the month of January.

  • When: Every Tuesday and Thursday from 5PM – 9PM; January only
  • How to register: Signs will be placed at the main and Rushmore gym entrances that provide a QR code to register and login each night. There is no need to track your miles. Set your own goals and pace! Winners will be selected each night and notified the next day. Dr. Lu Sweet, Director of Mustang Athletics, and coaches are available as well to assist you if you need help.
  • Map: Due to carpet renovations, a route will not be marked. However, a map is available to guide you in tracking your miles if needed. We encourage you to make Mustang Athletics concession stand a point on your walking path. They too will be giving out popcorn and swag to participants.
  • Prizes: Each Tuesday and Thursday will be a different prize. Follow our facebook page Mustang Connections for posts on each week’s prizes and winners.

"Walking is a great way to stay healthy and connect with others. This tradition was started years ago by a group of employees at Western. We want to continue the tradition and keep this activity going! We encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to improve their well-being and enjoy our beautiful campus,"-— Lu Sweet, Director of Mustang Athletics
