The CTL is excited to share our areas of expertise with you. This page details the variety of services we offer in order to support your instructional goals. By no means is this is an exhaustive list of services. If you have ideas for support that are not on this page, please reach out to us!

Lesson Design

The CTL offers a range of services to enhance your lesson design and increase student engagement. Whether you need to create interactive presentations, develop complex interactive scenarios, or produce engaging multimedia content, we’ve got you covered. We also offer support for redesigning assignments to improve clarity, developing effective learning outcomes and rubrics, and boosting class engagement with innovative activities.

We can help you to develop interactive presentations that have flipcards, hotspots, and chunked content. These productions can be embedded in Canvas pages. Below are some examples of this kind of interactive presentation: 

Interactive scenarios are more involved than the synthesized materials mentioned above. They can have more customized interactions such as dials, sorting, layered content and changeable object states dependent on user interactions. Below are some examples of this kind of interactive presentation: 

ThingLink is a digital tool that allows users to create interactive images and videos by embedding multimedia content directly into visual elements. ThingLinks can be embedded just about anywhere where an embeddable is allowed. Below are some examples that the CTL has created using ThingLink: 

Do you have assignments in which students seem to struggle with the directions? We can help you to redesign the assignment for better student understanding. Please email awendlandt@westernwyoming.edu for more assistance. 

Learning outcomes are an important communication tool to help students understand what they are aiming to learn and to help keep your course materials aligned. We can help ensure that your assessments and learning experiences are aligned.  

The CTL is coordinating with the office of Institutional Effectiveness to more efficiently record program learning outcomes into our institutional SPOL account.

Course Media

Enhance your course's visual appeal and functionality with our course media services. From vibrant course banners and engaging graphics to video support and user-friendly templates, we offer a variety of tools and assistance to make your course stand out. Whether you need ready-made options or custom designs, our team is here to help you create a visually appealing and effective learning experience.

Is your course homepage looking a little bland? Spruce it up with a course banner! We have banner templates readily available for you.

Too much white space? Course graphics can greatly improve the visual appeal of your course. We can create page dividers, clickable buttons, individual page banners, and more! See examples of course graphics below.

Don't know where to begin? Try downloading the Western Course Template in Canvas Commons! This is a general, user-friendly template that can help you get started in designing your course. It includes plenty of graphics and a comprehensible layout that can help improve student engagement. Services

The CTL offers a range of services to streamline your course management and enhance accessibility. We can assist with cross-listing courses, provide guidance on Canvas accessibility, and support textbook integrations with Canvas.

Do you have multiple sections of the same course? Would you like to combine these sections? Please reach out to vtoomey@westernwyoming.edu for assistance. 

We can assist you with interpreting your accessibility score in Canvas and teach you how to make corrections to your course to support increased accessibility. To start the process, please email awendlandt@westernwyoming.edu. 

The CTL can assist integrating software with Canvas. Please email bmoore2@westernwyoming.edu. 

  • Kahoot - an interactive learning platform that uses quizzes and games to engage users in educational content
  • Lucid Chart - tool that allows users to create and collaborate on flowcharts, organizational charts, and other visual representations
  • Thinglink - create interactive images and videos by adding clickable tags with multimedia content.

Professional Development

Advance your skills and knowledge with our professional development offerings. We provide structured opportunities to earn badges on various topics, provide opportunities for discussion on topics such as artificial intelligence, and offer Lunch and Learn sessions tailored to your interests.

Both full-time and adjunct instructors can sign-up for structured opportunities to earn badges. After recieving some institional feedback, we are restructuring this opportunity. This page will be updated soon to reflect changes. Those who are already signed up to do a badge are still able to do so.

The CTL is offering a series of events and resources regarding Artificial Intelligence. Once a month in Fall we are hosting round-table discussions called “Continuing Conversations in AI.” We are also offering a Canvas module of resources found in the Onboarding Guide and Adjunct Onboarding Resource. Finally, you can put your experiences into a badging opportunity. The following is the schedule for the round-table discussions in the CTL.

  • November 5th, 10am

You can reach out to the CTL for us to host a Lunch and Learn on a topic of your interest. Let us know the extent of our help you would like. We can facilitate, provide discussion resources, or just be a part of the conversation. We’ll provide the space and the food. Email rgamble@westernwyoming.edu to set one up.

Is there a topic you want to explore or a specific book you would like to discuss with peers? We can help you to run a book study and increase your potential audience. The book study can meet in person, zoom, or we can help you to set up an asynchronous group.
