National Cereal Day is almost here!

One of my favorite things to do on the weekend is to pour myself a bowl of fruity pebble cereal. Coming up on March 7, is National Cereal Day, and knowing just a little bit of the history of how cereal came to be is a fun tidbit that you should know! Back in 1863, “James Caleb Jackson,… created a breakfast cereal from graham flour dough that was dried and broken into shapes so hard they needed to be soaked in milk overnight. He called it granula. John Harvey Kellogg,... later made a version and named it granola.” While granola isn’t what people normally use for cereal in the morning, it was the first ever cereal that was made. Just like the accidental and unintentional creation of the chocolate chip cookies, cereal was a delicious accidental creation.

When writing up this article, I sent out a survey to students on the campus asking them what their favorite cereal was. Looking through the results the top three were, Cinnamon Toast Crunch at 20.6%, Fruity Pebbles at 17.2% (second place!), and for third (drumroll please!) we have a tie! Both Frosted Flakes and Froot Loops ca,e om at 10.3%! Are any of these your top choices?

Do you also have a favorite story that has to do with cereal? I know that one time with my family there was a miscommunication about what groceries to get. My parents and I went to separate stores and ended up buying a few different cereals, we ended up eating a lot of cereal for quite a few breakfasts!

And finally, in honor of National Cereal Day, howe about a few jokes? Here are a few cereal jokes that I think you will like!
