March is Women’s History Month, and I always find it to be such an inspiring time of year. It’s a chance to learn more about the incredible contributions women have made throughout history and to celebrate the amazing women in our lives today.

What’s really cool is that Women’s History Month started as a small local celebration in Santa Rosa, California, back in 1978. It was just a “Women’s History Week” at first, but the idea caught on fast. By 1980, President Jimmy Carter declared the week of March 8th as National Women’s History Week, and in 1987, Congress made it a whole month. Now, every March, we get to honor the impact women have had on our world–from iconic figures like Dolores Huerta, a labor leader and civil rights activist, and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a former U.S Supreme Court Justice and gender equality advocate. It's also a time to celebrate today's leaders, teachers, and mentors who inspire us every day

I love how this month brings opportunities to dive into history or even just take a moment to appreciate the women around us. Whether it’s learning about trailblazing women in my field of study or hearing a classmate’s story, there’s always something new to discover.

For me, celebrating Women’s History Month doesn’t have to be a big gesture. It can be as simple as sharing a story on social media, supporting women-led initiatives, or just saying thank you to the women who inspire me. This month I especially honor my mother, through her experiences she has taught me what hard work truly means, especially coming from a Hispanic background that I am proud of. This is a reminder to keep pushing for a more equal and inclusive world.
