Buckey grew up in the State of Nevada. He holds a Masters degree in Education and a second Masters degree in Criminal Justice. He has been involved in Law Enforcement and/or Corrections for more than 30 years being Peace Officer Standards and Training certified in the states of Nevada, Utah, Wyoming and Alabama. He retired from the Nevada Department of Public Safety/Investigations Division and began teaching Criminal Justice in 2003.
