I performed in shows all throughout middle and high school, and that passion led me to Western where I got my Associate of Arts in Musical Theatre. Not only did I find myself in the art of acting, but I also discovered my love for lighting design. I have learned how to design lights for a couple of shows now, and without Western's environment, I would have never discovered this passion. I didn't know what I wanted to do before I came to Western, I just knew I enjoyed theater. Throughout the program I was able to learn more about myself as a performer, singer, musician, and as a person, and that helped solidify that this was what I wanted to do. So many aspects of Western prepared me for where I am now. You learn stage managing, tech crew, costume design, music theory, and how to be a professional in this industry, along with so much more. I met my husband through the program, and because of the degrees we were given, we were prepared to test out the theater world down in Salt Lake City. Now, we've been able to start up our own theater company, doing the shows we love, with the knowledge we were given. The mentorship of the professors and faculty were incredibly helpful as a student, and now as a theater owner.
