April Fools
Western Wyoming Community College is retiring Thunder the Mascot, but his replacement has not been announced. However, we want to take this time to dispel a few rumors:
The Spartans?
Western used to be the Spartans, but switched to the Mustangs in 2006. We found our old Spartan mascot and posted him as a joke. April Fools!
Thunder is Retiring?
Thunder has been our mascot for many years, and is now set to retire. He's looking forward to the beach and warm weather. Well deserved after so many years of service!
Still the Mustangs?
Though Thunder is retiring, we're still the Mustangs. Therefore, our replacement mascot will be a mustang as well.
The mascot naming contest is closed, and now the final name suggestions are being voted on. The new mascot will make his debut at the Mustang Student Awards banquet on April 27. The winner of the contest will be notified before this date and we hope to provide them a check for $500 that night as well!
