Inside Look: Cabaret

Musical theater will always be something I deeply love and it’s really an art as to the time and effort the actors and actresses put into creating such a wonderful piece of art and telling a story. Friday afternoon, I was able to stop by and talk to some of the actors and watch them clean up a line march, and let me tell you, it gave me the chills watching them. As a theater lover, I’m super excited to see this show be performed. You can catch it on March 6, 7, 8, at 7:30pm, and another showing on March 8, at 2:00pm. When on a quick break, I was able to interview three of the members and wanted to hear about some of their inspirations, what the show means to them, and questions about theater in general.
What was your inspiration for auditioning for the show?
I liked the 1993 version with Alan Cumming and I’ve always wanted to do Cabaret, but it helped that it’s essentially exposing the more extremist people in our community. Plus I’m joining the theatre program next spring, so it helps to have this under my belt. - Mars Reece
What does this show mean to you?
To me this show is a very real warning about not only the rise of fascism, but also apathy, and what people not caring can mean for those who are directly and indirectly affected by politics. -Ezra Achenbach
What would you recommend for people wanting to go into theater?
I would recommend finding your passion from having fun. Theatre is a very difficult job with many specifics that can be challenging or even disheartening. But as long as you can find the fun, you can find the passion to keep going. -Timothy Golightly
I would like to thank director Anthony Romeo-Adcock for letting me come in and watch practice. I highly recommend that students, staff, and members of our community take time to come out and watch these talented students put on a show that will leave you wowed!
Warning, this musical is rated R and contains adult themes, strong language, smoking and alcohol.
