What is HyFlex?

At Western, we understand life can get in the way of your educational goals. Your car breaks down, extra shift of work to cover a coworker, and more. That's why Western is investing in new technology to transition several courses to HyFlex.

HyFlex (Hyper-Flexible) combines the best of in-person and online learning. It allows you to choose how you want to participate in your classes: attend in person, join live online, or access recorded sessions at your convenience. Or a mix!

Key Benefits:

  • Flexibility: Attend classes on-campus in person, through webinars, or online based on your schedule.
  • Engagement: Participate in real-time discussions and collaborative activities, regardless of your location.
  • Accessibility: Review recorded lectures and materials whenever you need, ensuring you never miss a lecture.

Who Can Benefit?

HyFlex is ideal for:

  • Working Professionals: Balance your job and studies without sacrificing quality.
  • Busy Parents: Manage family commitments while pursuing your degree.
  • Distance Learners: Engage with the campus community from anywhere in the world.
  • Dual Students: Concur your high school requirements while obtaining college credit.

How It Works:

  1. Choose Your Mode: Decide whether to attend in-person, online via webinar, or online at your own time.  This can change each week or day depending on your schedule. (Check with instructors for classes that have a lab)
  2. Engage Fully: Participate in discussions and activities, no matter how you join.
  3. Access Resources: Utilize recorded lectures and materials through our online portal.
