Western’s Star Valley Outreach Welcomes Shane Williams

Western Wyoming Community College (Western) has a new face at the Star Valley Outreach facility. Long-term resident Shane Williams joined Western’s team on November 27, as the new Outreach Coordinator for the area.  

Williams, a Wyoming native, was born in Rock Springs, but his family moved to Lander in the early 70’s. As an adult, Williams moved to Star Valley in 1992 and has lived there for 32 years. Williams attended Ricks College and Central Wyoming College, then transferred to Brigham Young University where he earned his Math Education (major) and P.E./Coaching (minor) degree. He taught for Lincoln County School District #2 for 30 years and also coached track, volleyball, football, and basketball throughout those years.  

Western’s Senior Outreach Coordinator Alex Schumacher shared, “We are thrilled to welcome Shane as the Star Valley Outreach Coordinator. With a strong background in education, including 30 years with Lincoln County School District #2, Mr. Williams brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise that will greatly benefit our students and the Star Valley community." 

The Star Valley Outreach in Afton, Wyoming offers many services to the Star Valley communities. Students and community members can visit the office for advising, placement testing, test proctoring, and concurrent enrollment through Lincoln County School District #2. The office is currently open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. except for federal holidays and is located at 247 N. Washington Street, number 1237, Afton, WY, 83110.
