Phi Theta Kappa

Western is proud to partner with Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), an honors society, for our local students. PTK recognizes the academic achievement of college students.

PTK is not just an organization; it's a community of dedicated scholars and leaders, offering unparalleled opportunities for personal and academic growth. Through PTK, students at Western have the chance to connect with like-minded peers, engage in impactful service projects, and access exclusive resources to propel their educational journey forward.

Community college instructors know your name and your circumstances... I thrived at a community college, and CCsmart is our way of telling people the stigma around community college is wrong. It is the exact opposite—people are smart to choose them, and here are the reasons why.-— PTK’s 2022 International Student President, Tala Alahmar

Western Wyoming Community College (Western) is partnering with CCsmart.org in response to an idea championed by a group of PTK students who wanted to share the success and pride they had for being community college students and encourage others to take a deeper look at all the opportunities community colleges provide, particularly to first-generation college students and underserved populations. Our students can save on average $34,000 by coming to Western their first two years.

Right now, these colleges are underutilized, and we have to fix that. CCsmart is about creating awareness of what these colleges have to offer, and it is also about fixing the short supply of skilled and trained workers needed for a strong U.S. economy.-— Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner, CCsmart/Phi Theta Kappa’s CEO and President

Whether you're striving for academic excellence, seeking leadership development, or eager to make a difference in your community, PTK at Western is here to support and empower you every step of the way.
